The start-up group consists of several concerned householders in the parishes neighbouring the port’s various operations. It is intended to widen the members of PortWatch to all parishes adjoining the Harbour.
It is not the intention to be “public representatives”, but more importantly to act as good neighbours to the port and to persuade them, their tenants, their operators and shipping companies to recognise their obligation to act to protect the interests of the neighbouring communities, not to transgress the bounds of fairness or nuisance in dealing with their neighbours and to ensure compliance by all relevant parties with planning, HSA and EPA obligations.
PortWatch will continue to monitor and report on the developments relating to the opening of new terminal facilities around the Harbour.
PortWatch will communicate with and act as an information conduit for other neighbourhoods in the harbour area so that up to date information is conveyed to any effected parts of the population.
PortWatch maintains a WhatsApp account through which it disseminates its observations on the activities in the Port, we would ask all members of the local community to join this group.
We see you. We hear you.
